- Board of General Superintendents joins Nazarenes in celebrating 100 years
On October 5, 2008, the international family of the Church of the Nazarene joined together across 24 times zones in the Centennial Celebration. Members of the Board of General Superintendents were privileged to participate in six different venues. Their experiences illustrate the variety of celebration activities and cultural adaptations of worship and training that took place around the world. (Slideshow)
- Broadbooks elected director for USA/Canada
Tennessee District Superintendent Robert R. Broadbooks has been elected director of the USA/Canada Mission/Evangelism Department.
- Kinzler to serve as interim D.S. of Northwest Oklahoma
The Board of General Superintendents has announced the appointment of Clarence J. Kinzler as interim district superintendent of the Northwest Oklahoma District.

- Africa Nazarenes celebrate the Centennial
Nazarenes around the Africa Region share the numerous ways they celebrated the Centennial of the Church of the Nazarene, including a personal story from Eugenio Duarte and the launching of an on-campus church at ANU.
- FISC partners with ISACC to host writer's workshop
Fairbanks International School of Communication of Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary has continued to develop partnerships in its effort to provide specialized media training and education to churches and ministry partners.
- Latin American COSACs join efforts
From September 22-24, educators of the Spanish/Portuguese countries of Latin America met at the Nazarene Seminary of the Americas in Costa Rica. The result of these meetings was a new version of a multiregional sourcebook.
- Oriental District in Dominican Republic celebrates Centennial
Miguel Yuden reports the Dominican Republic's Oriental District celebrated their 100 year anniversary in a district-wide gathering. (Slideshow)
- Ukrainian church saddened by loss of pastor
Vladimir Nikolaevich Khursin passed away October 3 in Kiev, Ukraine. He was the assistant pastor of Kiev First Church of the Nazarene.
- Brazil Nazarenes to celebrate 50 years
On October 11, the Brazil Churches of the Nazarene will hold their 50 year anniversary celebration with a service at the Ponte Preta soccer stadium in Campinas, Brazil. The celebration will be available to view online via online streaming video.
- General Assembly housing update
The General Assembly Arrangements Office has contracted 35,509 hotel room nights in the Orlando area for the 27th General Assembly and Conventions. Housing registration will be available November 1.
- Gearing up for the 2009 Global NYI Convention
On June 24-26, 2009, Nazarene Youth International members will be gathering all around the world for the 22nd Global NYI Convention. In years past, delegates have gathered in one location to conduct business and worship together, but in 2009, delegates will participate from within nine other world areas.
- CLT conference call recording available online; next call scheduled
Recently The Discipleship Place hosted a conference call on family issues and how to minister to families within the local church. The facilitator for the call was Coordinator of Family Life Ministries for the Global Ministry Center Jim Pettitt.
- Holiness summits lead to holiness experiences
It was the end of a veritable preaching marathon-the last of nine straight sermons on holiness, delivered by nine different speakers over three days in September. What happened next, however, was greater than the grassroots committee hoped for as they planned for Holiness Summit-West at Nazarene Bible College. (Slideshow)

- NNU students elect McCain in newspaper mock election
Senator John McCain bested Senator Barack Obama in a mock election held at Northwest Nazarene University, reported the student newspaper, The Crusader, in its weekly issue Wednesday, October 8. The mock election was part of an effort to help students learn about the candidates and what they stand for.
- NNU receives $210,000 National Science Foundation grant
The National Science Foundation awarded Northwest Nazarene University a $210,000 grant. Under the direction of Project Leader and Professor of Chemistry Jerry Harris, the project is designed to find a liquid route to zinc oxide materials containing magnetic elements.
- Geoffrey Wainwright lectures at NTS
On September 25-26, Nazarene Theological Seminary hosted the Mercer Lectures in Christian Holiness, featuring Geoffrey Wainwright. Wainwright is an ordained minister of the British Methodist Church and teaches at Duke Divinity School where he occupies the Robert Earl Cushman chair of Christian Theology.
- Creation Care Week at PLNU
This year, Point Loma Nazarene University's Creation Care Week is October 6-11, and includes a variety of events and displays on the issue of sustaining natural resources for the next generation.
- Trevecca honors alumna Nina G. Gunter
Trevecca Nazarene University has announced the establishment of the Nina Griggs Gunter Leadership Fund, an endowed fund established in order to recognize the ministry, leadership, and accomplishments of the first female general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene and a Trevecca alumna.
- Centennial celebration at Trevecca
As part of Trevecca's celebration of the Nazarene Centennial, the university held a special service and several presentations on the history of the denomination. (Slideshow)
- Mount Vernon Soccer sees two earn National Player of the Week honors
Jenessa Loewen and Adam Worrall, members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's and men's soccer teams respectively, were chosen as the NAIA National Player of the Week in their sport for the week of September 29-October 5.
